Research and Academia

Through the collaboration process between DFO and Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), considerable information about the Gilbert Bay cod and its ecosystem has been compiled.  This information has proven quite useful in the development of the Gilbert Bay MPA, as well as in the development of this website.  The strong commitment from both parties on continued research pertaining to the conservation, protection and ecological understanding of the MPA will lead to effective management of the area.
